Adele's 40th

Well, my beautiful cousin Adele is turning 40, so I offered to make some cakes. I was pretty much free to do whatever I wanted so I decided to go with white chocolate and chocolate mud cakes with white chocolate icing and white chocolate buttercream.

Here is the top cake, yummy Chocolate mud with White chocolate icing and some lovely hand made Frangipani's.

The Cupcakes, Textured white Chocolate icing and Buttercream with Frangipani decorations and 40 plaques.

More pics of the cupcakes.

Some close ups of the cupcakes.

The tower. All set up and ready to go!

So we packed the kids and the cakes into the car and headed off to Preston. Lucky for Mum's navman or I would have gotten horribly lost! We never venture of that side of town!

Here is my personal touch, a bit of humour for my cousin who is in fact a little older than me!

I am pretty sure everyone enjoyed it. Glad to help. We all had a great day!

Buttercream Class

Recently I decided to take a two hour workshop of buttercream to practice my skills.
So one Wednesday night, off Renee and I went to Jennifer Anne's cakes in FTG.
To start with we were shown how to do a novelty teddy bear cake.
The face looks a bit freaky, but not too bad!

Then we did some cupcakes with a few different styles of decoration.

Just your typical star piped buttercream with a heart decoration and very cute heart shaped spirnkles!

My very first attepmt at a piped rose! Not too bad for a first effort I think!

Very cute sprinkles once again!

Just good old fashioned spreading of the buttercream with some piped leaves.

Last but not least some different styles of decorative piping, star, rope and I can't remember the blue one on the outside, snail trail ot something like that.

It was a good night, and the best part about it was I got to bring them all home and eat them! Yummy!

Happy Birthday Liam

We recently went to visit a friend having missed his second birthday. I decided to make him some mini vanilla bean cupcakes with bright blue buttercream and dollar stars to have a little celebration with his mum Tracey, Liam, my mum, Darci and Jude. Here are a couple of pics of the quick babycakes!

Very Cute!

Matt's mid week cake

Well about a week ago my sister in law Ivy asked me to make a birthday cake for her Husband's upcoming birthday. After discussions we decided on a Chocolate Mud Cake with Coffee Buttercream. With limited time we went for some simple decorations. Here is it!

Happy Birthday Matty!

The 2nd Birthday Cake

After our Playgroup Christmas party 2008 where they had a mobile animal farm which Darci loved. She spent the entire time in with the animals, I knew we had to have a farm animal themed party for her 2nd birthday.

After finding all these wonderful cakes on flickr I found one I loved!

Darci's 2nd Birthday cake inspired by this magnificent cake on Flickr.

So work began to create this magnificent cake.

First I worked on the farm animals creating the ducks, pigs, cows and horses out of modelling paste. With work over a few days allowing the figurines to set hard, the birthday was approaching.

I made the top chocolate mud cake, iced it with buttercream, and added my figurines.

Then came the cupcakes, these cakes where white chocolate mud cakes and babycakes and chocolate mud cakes and babycakes. I just love the result and couldn't post enough photos, I was so proud of the result.

Here is the top cake before the animals landed!

The cupcakes all set up and ready to go!

Hand made horses (So Cute!)

Cow, duck, butterflies, flowers and 2 plaques.

The finished product all put together. I could add more pics as I took heaps, had to make sure I captured the cake! Like I said I was very proud of my efforts!

Now awaiting the next project, my cousin's 40th cake and cupcakes! Can't wait to get started.

I will post a menu very soon.

Thanks for reading!

The Obsession Begins!

Well, after a lifetime of baking, decorating and watching my mum cake decorate with admiration I have once again come back to my love. As everyone who has had a baby knows you have limited time, well, I have had two babies in two years, I have a little girl who just turned two (Darci) and a little boy who is 5 months (Jude).

After two years of devoting my life to the needs of my children I decided I should have an interest outside of the house, so I started cake decorating classes and recommenced baking!

Loving creating and eating cupcakes I thought this would be a great thing to concentrate my energies on.

To begin with I have just been doing cupcakes for the fun of it, taking them to playgroup and parties etc. Since my daughter's 2nd birthday last week I have had numerous enquiries as to wheather my services can be hired, hence the creation of my blog!
