Cupcakes for Chris and Jemma

Another weekend another wedding cake! This was my second weekend in a row to have a wedding cake ready!

My beautiful friend Jemma was getting married to her beautiful soul mate Chris and she not only asked me to make her wedding cakes, she asked me to stand beside her a witness her marriage. Of course I was so happy to be with her a support her for this very special day.

Jemma and Chris decided on cupcakes, so I made a centre cake of Chocolate mud with a layer of vanilla buttercream and white chocolate icing.

Then we had a mixture of White chocolate mud and chocolate mud cupcakes and babycakes with white chocolate icing, choc mint buttercream and white chocolate coconut buttercream, and we had pretty purple flowers to finish them off.

This cake was inspired by this one we found on the net http://www.flickr.com/photos/juliedesmeules/3475445332/.

It was nice to be at the wedding and see everyone enjoying the cakes.

Thanks Jem!

Jude's very first birthday party

Well, the weekend of September 27th was Jude's very first birthday. So we had his party Sunday rather than Saturday (Grand Final Day).

We had a fantastic time, 25 kids most under three years old and almost 40 adults! Wow I can't believe I fit that many people in my house, as the weather was terrible and stopped us from having the party outside as we had originally planned.

The theme for the party was Cowboys!

I found these super cute party supplies online in the states at http://www.birthdayexpress.com/

So I started planning the cake, I had decided I was going to try my hand at making figurines, so my first figurine was Cowboy Cody.

I really enjoyed making and designing this cake and am really happy with the way it turned out.

When deciding what to put around the sides of the cake I thought, where would this cowboy be and it came to me Monument Valley! So I made some stencils to make my very own Monument Valley.

Another cake for Harrison.

Gorgeous Harrison whom I made a christening cake for earlier in the year is now turning one!
So his mum asked me to make some cakes for his party. As you can see the theme was trains, but not neccesarily Thomas the tank.

My first attempt at the novelty decorating. My goodness this is time consuming, although I assume the more you do the quicker you would be at it. Not sure if I am a fan or not. I guess I can only try a couple more times and if I don't enjoy this kind of cake decorating, I will outsource any requests I have for these kinds of cakes to Fully frosted http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000131802675.

Still not sure how I feel about this train? Will see what everyone says about it I guess, save my judgement of whether or not I did a good job till then.

As always, love the cupcakes.

No 1 plaques for the birthday boy and train plaques which turned out well I think, very cute!

Happy birthday Harrison!

More dinosaur babycakes

I needed to make some babycakes for a 5th birthday party, the theme was dinosaurs, so I got out my green colour and dollar dinos and this is how they looked.

Chocolate mud babycakes with vanilla buttercream. Always a favorite!

Issac's Thomas cake

My gorgeous surrogate Nephew Issac is turning two, his mum Lisa asked me if I could make a cake for his Thomas the Tank themed party. She decided she wanted a number two cake, found a pic similar to what she wanted and we added a couple of other little touches and this is what we came up with.

I am very pleased with how it came out, looks very cute and the colours are very Thomas the tank!

Happy birthday to one of the cutest little boys I know!

Babycakes for the last Twenty Something!

The theme this time was pink, brown an elegant. I was also given a list of amazing flavours for the buttercream icing.

So what the birthday girl and I decided on was white chocolate mud babycakes in pink and brown cupcakes cases with a combination of different flavour buttercream.

Birdseye view of the four combinations.
First we have White chocolate and coconut buttercream with pretty pink shimmering sprinkles.

Next we have white chocolate and chocolate buttercream swirl. (These will have a raspberry on top, but I thought best not to put it on until delivery).

Then we have White chocolate and lemon buttercream swirl with shimmering silver sprinkles.

Yummo, Pink peppermint and chocolate buttercream.
I hope all the girl's at the birthday dinner enjoy the cakes, I think they will!

Prince & Princess cakes for a 3rd Birthday

It was my gorgeous neice Madison's 3rd Birthday last week and her mum asked me to make some babycakes for the party so we decided on Chocolate mud babycakes with pink and blue vanilla buttercream, dollar butterflies and stars.

I can safely say these where yummy! I ate entirely too many! At the party of course.
